Bringing home a rescue dog is incredibly rewarding, but it can also be a time of great stress and uncertainty - especially for your new companion. Many rescue dogs have experienced trauma, upheaval and inconsistency in their past. They need time, patience, and understanding to feel safe, decompress and begin to adjust to their new life.
Our Rescue Dog Package offers flexible, one-to-one support tailored to the unique needs of you and your rescue dog. Whether you’re welcoming a rescue from the UK or abroad, we understand the emotional and behavioural challenges that can come with starting over.
These support packages include a mix of in-home behaviour and training consultations (or out in your local area) and/or private sessions at our secure paddock, or online, in whatever combination is needed. There’s no pressure to book everything at once - we go at your dog’s pace, giving the freedom to space sessions out to suit your dog's individual circumstances.
We can help with:
- Settling in and supporting a calm adjustment into the home
- Understanding trauma-related behaviour and building trust
- Supporting dogs who’ve endured long, traumatic journeys (such as overseas rescues who may now struggle with car travel or new environments)
- Gently introducing walks and outdoor experiences
- Confidence-building games and activities for dogs not yet ready to go out or for those in need of calm activities at home
- Managing introductions to existing dogs,
- Supporting your dog with visitors to the home
- Supporting your dog to gradually learn how to cope with being alone
Adopting a rescue is a journey. Let’s help your rescue dog settle, grow in confidence, and feel truly safe in their new life, setting you all up for success in your new lives together.
All our Rescue Dog Support Packages have flexible payment options so you can spread the cost! Pay in 3 instalments or pay later via Klarna. Once payment is complete we will email instructions on how to book your sessions.

My passion for rescue dogs….
Supporting rescue dogs has been a big part of my work for many years. As a qualified behaviourist, I’ve worked extensively with dogs who are finding their feet after a difficult start - whether they’re from UK-based rescues or have come from overseas, rescue dogs often carry significant trauma and uncertainty into their new lives.
I was the Behaviourist for a large rescue charity, where I provided behavioural support in rescue, provided short-term foster care and also helped adopters and their dogs navigate the sensitive and often complex transition into home life. I’ve supported dogs with all kinds of behavioural and emotional challenges - from fear-based responses and anxiety, resource guarding, aggression, reactivity and difficulty coping with change. My approach has always been compassionate, trauma-aware, and tailored to the needs of each individual dog.
I share my life with five dogs - three of whom are rescues. Among them is our Border Collie, Rosie, who had a tough start in life. Despite everything, she has made remarkable progress and most importantly of all, feels safe and secure. In her first year with us, she displayed some behavioural challenges that indicated a possible underlying pain element and after extensive veterinary investigations Rosie was finally diagnosed with hypermobility of the lumbosacral spine and has recently undergone spinal stabilisation surgery. Her rehabilitation is ongoing, and she continues to inspire me every day with her courage and resilience.
Labradors Bill (1) and Peggy (10), joined our family in June and November 2024 respectively. Both have settled well into our family, despite their individual challenges and it wouldn’t be fair not to credit our beautiful Labradors Doug (8) and Archie (3), who have played such an important role in helping our rescue dogs to begin to heal and feel safe, secure and loved.
My passion for supporting rescue dogs remains as strong as ever. I have now chosen to focus on helping people and dogs outside the rescue system - giving adopters the time, support, and flexibility they often need beyond the rehoming stage. For many rescue dogs, the real journey begins once they come home. I understand what it means to live with a dog who needs extra care, patience, and understanding - and I know just how rewarding that journey can be, too.
